Rosser Roundup '99
Slick 50 Trail

Rosser Roundup
After the pit, we stopped a moment to clear our treads.

We had a nice basic trail before getting to the final, 4-rated stretch.

The last section was sure to break some drivetrain parts if you weren't careful. Todd spent a good hour trying to find the "good" line.

He tried just about every angle we could possibly guide him over.

After enough abuse, Todd finally winches over the last stretch.

I was pretty determined, but because of the rain and mud, crawling was not an option. It would take carefully applied speed to get over these marble-sized rocks.

After quite a bit of spinning, I moved onward.

The section was rock after rock and they got bigger as you moved on.

Out came my winch. The Ramsey Platinum proved to be absolutely amazing, pulling me rapidly and without a peep over the steep ascent.

Pat finally gives in and winches himself, too.

We didn't get much further and this step hung me up again. I managed to get the front wheels over the three foot high ledge, but the rear wheels just couldn't get traction.

The trail ends by the Goat Trail, allowing a nice, twenty minute, 2WD ride back to the road. This snapping turtle refused to leave the middle of the trail and was attacking Pat's wheels! We finally got him to move and headed back to camp.
