4th of July 4x4 Spectacular
Uvalde, Texas
June 3-5, 1998

The Dry Frio is just that! A very wide, dried up river bed. Miles and miles of broken river rocks abound, with great rocky banks to play on. Some spots get pretty extreme, in fact and can claim many a 4x4 part.

Shawn Pagan in his TJ was the first to try this extremely vertical, rocky river bank. Though a little dirty, the bank provided near-Moab-like traction and was a heck of a lot of fun!

Nearby there were also plenty of great ledges to play on. Most of the ledges were very steep. At one time, the Frio was a pretty mighty river.

Didn't take long for me to find some great spots to play on. Unfortunately, I backed into a ledge and folded the exhuast underneath. After 20 minutes of very creative Hi-Lifting and wedging rocks, we managed to rebend the pipe and get it back on the hanger.

Lance and his CJ sure weren't going to get left out of the fun. About half of the group made the ledge, while the others went around to meet at the top.

Of course, no 4th of July is complete without watermellon!

Moving right along...
