I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab with a 4.7 engine and manual transmission. It is my understanding that the newer version of the 4.7 is up to 310 horsepower, but my 2003 seems to be quite underpowered, especially when towing my boat or sleds. I am considering putting a K & N air filter on, a cat-back exhaust system (Summit) and a chip. At my last fill up I was getting 11.8 mpg. So after being told this was a “good gas mileage” engine from the dealer I must say I am quite dissapointed since it has no power and gets less than 12 mpg. After reading about the chip, it says that if I perform other modifications it might not work properly, what can I do to get more power and better mileage out of this truck? Mike
