4th Annual Surplus City Spring Mud & Crawl This Weekend

OROVILLE, CA APRIL 19, 2010: The Urban Assault OHV area will be active this weekend for the 4th Annual Surplus City Spring Mud & Crawl. This event is open to all levels of competitors, from no prior experience to the pros in the unlimited class. “We have great events that are full of different level competitors which makes the racing action even more entertaining. The new guys always just go for it, and the pros make the hardest obstacle look simple,” said race promoter Bob Frank. Rock crawling, mud bogs, and a raffle will be on both Saturday and Sunday with the Teeter Totter competition on Sunday only.

Rock Crawling is one of the most technical sports in Motorsports, and the Urban Assault arena has a man-made course that can test the pros, yet give a new crawler a good challenge. “Sundays action will be similar to the National competitions that are held at the our location, but Saturday it is all about getting the people out that want to experience competitive rock crawling to give it a try,” explained Bob Frank. This weekend there are plans to incorporate the low side of The Terminator, a 35ft vertical climb.

Mud Bogs is always a popular and fun event to watch. “There are enough classes that a guy can pull his truck out of the garage, put big tires on it and run. Its cheap and something everyone can do,” explained Bob Frank, “and even more fun is watching the spectators push and shove to get to the front of the action for the badge of honor: mud splatter!” The mud slinging action will be exciting as always.

Playing on a teeter totter as a kid is nothing like putting your full size vehicle up on this 33ft Teeter Totter and trying to get it to level out. The balance needs to be just right. Hours of entertainment can come from watching and cheering on competitors try and find just the right amount of braking action.

Thousands of dollars in products will be given away in the raffle, with all the proceeds going to Disabled Sports USA Far West. Disabled Sports USA Far West serves over 60,000 disabled people nationwide providing affordable inclusive physical and recreational activities that build health and confidence.

Rock crawling native Jason Berger has been a leader in this program for many years helping spear head the 3 -day Rubicon Trail experience where the vehicle owners serve as the drivers and each person with a disability gets to ride in a specialized off-road vehicle.

Tickets are only $10 for adults, $5 for children and 5 and under are free. Racing begins at 9:30 am both Saturday and Sunday.
