Tread Lightly!’s Membership Doubles as Organization Offers New Benefits

OGDEN, Utah (March 17, 2011) — The nonprofit organization Tread Lightly!® has doubled its membership over the last year after offering several new benefits—including significant discounts on insurance, Goodyear tires, and new Chrysler, Jeep®, Ram Truck or Dodge vehicles.

Lori McCullough, Tread Lightly!’s executive director, also attributes the rapid increase to growing concern over potential loss of access for outdoor recreation.

“We haven’t seen a rise in membership like this since the early 90s,” said McCullough. “There has never been a better time to be involved—not only are we offering substantial new benefits—but Tread Lightly! has also created some outstanding campaigns and programs that are gaining considerable notice among enthusiasts and industry leaders.”

This week Tread Lightly! announced a new Individual Membership structure comprised of three levels of involvement.

Individuals can pay $25 for a one-year membership and are offered a $100 rebate on select sets of four Goodyear Wrangler tires from Goodyear. These members are also eligible for a discount on a new insurance policy from Foremost Insurance Group, who specializes in off-road and recreational vehicles.

The second level is a new three-year membership for $60. Those signing up as three-year members can take advantage of the Chrysler Affiliate Rewards Program and receive 1% below Factory Invoice (The Factory Invoice price can be up to thousands below MSRP) on any Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge or Ram Truck purchase or lease. Full details can be found at www.treadlightly.org.

Also new is a third level of membership – a $500 lifetime membership – for those planning to make a long-term commitment to Tread Lightly!’s cause.

All members are entered to win four times a year for a series of outdoor gear packages. Certain members can also be eligible to apply for a grant from the new “Tread Lightly! Stewardship Grant Program,” which will give a series of grants to groups and individuals organizing clean ups and small maintenance projects.

Outdoor enthusiasts simply interested in pledging to recreate responsibly can sign up as a “Friend” for free. Total membership including Friends has topped 8,000 this year for Tread Lightly!, and the organization hopes to double membership again by 2012.

All those interested in becoming members of Tread Lightly! or learning about additional benefits can sign up at www.treadlightly.org.
