Fresno, CA-Trail-Gear, Inc. has recently developed and released multiple new products designed for Toyota Tacomas made during the years of 1995-2004. “We see the future of Toyota off- road trending toward Tacomas and we want to offer our customers a complete product line,” said Aaron Young, Trail-Gear Engineer. These new products expand Trail-Gear’s existing Trail Creeper™ and Rock Assault™ lines.
The Trail Creeper™ line has grown with the launch of two new kits designed specifically for the 1995-2004 Toyota Tacoma. The first is an Adapter Plate kit which will allow consumers to mount one or more gear-driven transfer case(s) in their 2.7L or 3.4L Toyota Tacoma. The adapter plate is CNC machined from 6061 T-6 Aluminum at the Trail-Gear, Inc. headquarters. Vehicle modifications are required for installation and include lengthening the front and shortening the rear drive shafts, cutting an additional hole through the floorboard for the second transfer case shifter and replacing the crossmember. Additionally, this kit will require a transfer case with a 23-spline input gear. The Trail-Gear design does not require any modification to the existing manual or automatic transmission for installation.
The second is a Dual Transfer Case Adapter kit. This kit will enable consumers to install a Mini Truck Crawl Box and run dual transfer cases in their Tacoma. This kit includes the Adapter Plate kit listed above, in addition to a Dual Transfer Case Adapter and all necessary hardware and instructions. Installation of this kit requires an additional top-shifting Toyota gear-driven transfer case with 23-spline input gear and modifications to the driveshaft and floorboard.
Both of these kits build on the Trail-Gear reputation for strength and durability and come backed with Trail-Gear’s No-Questions-Asked, Lifetime Warranty.
Trail-Gear has expanded their Rock Assault™ line with the addition of a Power Steering Pump kit for 3.4L engine Tacoma trucks that have solid axles. It offers drivers a higher fluid output which improves steering capabilities thereby allowing drivers to maneuver larger tires on eventhe most treacherous off-road trails. The pump is a TC style, power steering pump that features an all-steel housing to handle extreme heat and puts out an amazing 4.5 GPM of flow and 1,650 PSI of pressure. Each pump is bench tested to ensure quality. The kit includes all the brackets, hoses and hardware consumers will need to do the install.
All design and development for the kits were done at Trail-Gear, Inc. in Fresno, California. The components of the kits have undergone years of exhaustive testing at some of the world’s hardest courses, such as “The Hammers” in Johnson Valley, California and the Rubicon Trail in Lake Tahoe, California. Interested parties may purchase the kits from any authorized Trail-Gear dealer or via the Trail-Gear website www.trail-gear.com. The Tacoma Adapter Plate kit retails for $299, the Tacoma Dual Transfer Case Adapter kit retails for $595 and the Tacoma Rock Assault™ 3.4L Power Steering Pump kit retails for $576 on the Trail-Gear website.
