After nearly 18 months of hard-fought litigation, EcoLogic Partners, Inc. (“EcoLogic”) has prevailed in its California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) lawsuit against the California Department of Parks and Recreation (“State Parks”) over the closure of recreational vehicle routes in Truckhaven (also known as the “Freeman Property”). On October 16, 2012, Judge Jeffrey Jones of the Imperial County Superior Court issued his final Judgment in the action, finding that State Parks violated CEQA when it approved a “boundary signage and fencing” project without first analyzing whether and to what extent the project would have adverse impacts on natural and recreational resources. As a result of the Court’s ruling, State Parks’ decision to approve the boundary signage and fencing project has been set aside. (more…)

RENO, NEV. – The days leading up to his TORC Pro-Light Championship race in Lancaster, Calif. on Sept. 29, Brad Lovell was where he can usually be found before each short-course race – stationed at his Torchmate 4X4 CNC machine, fabricating race components to ready his Pro-Light rig for the off-road battle of its life.
The season of hard work in the garage paid off in the biggest week of Brad Lovell’s racing career, when, fresh off of being crowned Ultra-4 Pro champion, he backed it up with his first-ever TORC Pro-Light series championship at the Lancaster racetrack. (more…)

Johnson Valley OHV Area Final Environmental Impact Statement has been released.
ORBA is reviewing the FEIS and working with the California Motorized Recreation Council, and Ecologic Partners on comments.
The Long awaited Johnson Valley OHV area Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) was released last Friday in Washington, D.C.The nearly 1200 page document will be reviewed by ORBA legal council at Ecologic Partners over the next few weeks and comments submitted. In addition, ORBA is working with the Livingston Group in Washington, D.C. through its CMRC relationship to lobby Congress to stop the expansion. We have successfully educated bipartisan Congressional membership in both the House and the Senate on this tremendous loss of OHV recreational opportunity. To date, ORBA has invested over $70,000 into the approximately $300,000 effort to save Johnson Valley. (more…)

Torchmate Racing helps keep Moab beautiful
Following the 2005 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab Utah Jeff Knoll and his family read an article in the Moab newspaper about an environmentalists named Sara Melnicoff who was cleaning up the amazing mess left by off roaders who chose to party at Potato Salad hill. Knoll and family presented a challenge to keep the area clean the following year which the online 4 wheeling community has spun into a yearly cleanup and proactive approach to management of the area during safari. California Motorized Recreational Council Hires Livingston Group to help save Johnson Valley OHV area
April 18, 2012 – Washington, DC – The California Motorized Recreation Council (CMRC), an umbrella group of the eight largest OHV access groups in California, has agreed to contract terms with the Livingston Group, LLC in Washington, DC to help stave off the expansion of the 29 Palms Marine Base. The move comes on the heels of the expected April 27th, 2012 release of a Final Environmental Impact Study (FEIS) by the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps wishes to annex approximately 160,000 acres of the Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle area, which is the largest open OHV area in the United States and contributes over $70 million dollars into the economy of the surrounding High Desert communities annually.
