  • RFP for Pima Motorsports Park

Tucson, AZ (October 6, 2010)—Pima County is seeking proposals from qualified parties interested in a contract for the lease and operation of Pima Motorsports Park (PMP), an urban off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation and education facility located on approximately 500 acres intended to provide a safe recreational facility to train and enjoy OHV vehicles and take some stress off the illegal use of public lands in Pima County and Southern Arizona. The Park is located near the Pima County Fairgrounds at 11700 S. Harrison Road, Tucson, AZ 85747.

The Park opened for public use in 2002 with capital improvements valued at approximately $650,000. A five year lease agreement was authorized by the Pima County Board of Supervisors for the maintenance and operation of the facility, of which one improvement over the next two years included lighting a motor cross track at a cost of $380,000 with additional grant funding.

In 2005, the County entered into a 15 year lease and operating agreement with Pima Motorsports Partners, Inc. During their tenure the facility provided a variety of OHV recreation fun including motocross racing, ATV courses and a new obstacle course for 4-wheel drive vehicles. In August 2010, Pima Motorsports Partners voluntarily terminated the lease leaving the facility in great shape.

Pima County will seek a new operator through a RFQ Process beginning in early October, and will hold a pre-bid meeting at the Economic Development & Tourism Office, 33 N.
