GEARWRENCH EXPANDS ITS POPULAR 120XP™ RATCHETING WRENCH LINE

Larger Size Combination Wrenches Now Available in 20MM to 24MM and 13/16” to 1-1/4”

SPARKS, MD (July 28, 2015) – GearWrench®, a premier hand tool brand from Apex Tool Group, known for tools that deliver speed, strength, and access, today announced the availability of 11 new open stock combination ratcheting wrenches to its highly regarded 120XP Universal Spline XL Ratcheting Wrench line.

GearWrench 120XP Universal Spline XL Ratcheting Wrenches feature numerous advantages, including:

    Superior Access
120XP Universal Spline XL Ratcheting Wrenches have double-stacked pawls that deliver 120 positions and a three-degree swing arc. They also have a narrow ratchet-end width and thickness, allowing technicians to reach fasteners in tight clearance situations.

    Greater Reach
120XP Universal Spline XL Ratcheting Wrenches feature a beam design that’s longer for greater reach in confined areas. The open end is narrower and both ends have reduced outside dimensions, making this tool a must-have for working on fasteners in cramped locations.

    Flexibility and Versatility
The Universal Spline drive design means technicians need only one tool to work on several different style fasteners, including: spline, 12-point, 6-point, e-torx, square and rounded 6-point. Dual Direction Surface Drive® on the open end provides better grip and reduces fastener rounding.

    Speed
Both sides of each wrench have highly visible, recessed color size markings to help technicians easily identify the correct wrench to get jobs done quickly.

    Strength
All 120XP Universal Spline XL Ratcheting Wrenches exceed ASME performance requirements.

End users can now purchase the following new 120XP™Universal Spline XL Combination Ratcheting Wrench sizes:

  • Healy Repeats Win at Glen Helen

Healy Repeats Win at Glen Helen

July 12th, 2015 GLEN HELEN, CA:  Both ULTRA4 drivers and fans lucked out last weekend with below average temperatures for the 5th Annual 4 Wheel Parts Glen Helen Grand Prix.  The event continues to be the largest ULTRA4 regional race in the series with nearly 120 cars registered in 7 classes.  Loren Healy continues to be the man to beat in the 4400 unlimited class. It’s been almost a year to the day since Healy debuted his new IFS #67 car with a win at Glen Helen, and Healy showed up in San Bernardino prepared to defend that win.

2009 King of The Hammers winner, #76 Jason Scherer had the fastest lap in qualifying by nearly 5 seconds winning the Billet Rifle Systems Hot Shot Award.  #67 Loren Healy and #321 Tom Wayes both lead their prelims Saturday morning  which had Healy on the pole and Wayes starting just seconds behind him for the 40-car main event.  Early in the race, competition was tight with Healy leading the pack.  Many cars succumbed to mechanical failures in the first hour of the two hour long race.  Healy too had to stop for a tire change and Wayland Campbell took the lead in his new-to-him single seat IFS car.  After several laps and Wayland experiencing some mechanical issues of his own, Healy regained the lead and never looked back. The Red Dragon once again proving unstoppable in a regional race.  When the checkered flag dropped, it was #67 Loren Healy in 1st, #966 Jason Blanton in 2nd and #27 Jon Cagliero 3rd. This was both Blanton and Cagliero’s first time nabbing a podium finish in an ULTRA4 event.

Nearly 40 cars entered the track in the multi-class limited race which began with a moment of silence for two ULTRA4 team members that had passed since the last ULTRA4 race, driver for the #689 car, Cody McBride, and crew chief for the #4540 car, MoparNorm Layton. The limited race was lead by motocross legend Ricky Johnson in a 4700 spec car. He and fellow spec car driver Bailey Cole would battle it out throughout the race with #4748 Johnson taking 1st, #4703 Cole 2nd and  #4708 Rowdy Trubenbach taking 3rd for the spec class. In the 4500 modified class, the Beast from the East, #4580 Jordan Townsend dominated and earned first followed by #13 Justin Hall and #4540 Mike Bedwell  in third after overoming multiple mechanical issues to take his first podium in ULTRA4. In the 4800 legends class, the racing was tight throughout the hour and a half main event with the majority of the cars traversing the track in a tight pack throughout the race. Ultimately, Dave Schneider in the 4871 took the checkered followed by #4823 Jade Wickham and #444 Rick Waterbury in 3rd. In the 4600 class, #4612 Ben Varozza, who is no stranger to the podium, clinched another first place with #4696 Sean MacNamara in 2nd and #4672 Brian Hays taking 3rd.

17 UTVs raced at Glen Helen making it one of the largest UTV races outside of King of The Hammers for ULTRA4 Racing.  John Duckworth took the checkered flag in the pro class, with Buzz Bronsema in 2nd and newcomer to the UTV class, JP Gomez clinching 3rd. In the UTV Sportsman class, Brendan Child scored his first ULTRA4 win, followed by Brian Hogue and Nathan Unruh.

In the Nitto National Championship series Derek West has continued to consistently finish in the top 5 maintaining a significant lead in points over Shirley and Wayland Campbell.  Next week’s Sturgis Off Road Blowout will be the first time the majority of the series points leaders have completed 3 regional races. The Nitto National Championship consists of the Nitto King of The Hammers, 3 best regional races and the Nitto National Championship, and after next week’s race the race for the championship will be on, with the top drivers striving to gain points before Nationals in October.

The next race in the ULTRA4 Nitto National Championship will be next weekend’s Sturgis Off Road Blowout July 31st and August 2nd. The next Trail-Gear regional race is the Fallon 250 at the end of August. For more information on ULTRA4 Racing please visit www.ultra4racing.com

BFGoodrich presents Race-Dezert Heroes and Legends: Rod Hall

Off-road racing legend Rod Hall is known for being a pioneer of off-road racing.  Finishing first in class at the inaugural NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally in 1967 (the race now known as the SCORE International Baja 1000), Hall returned two years later in a Ford Bronco built by Bill Stroppe and won the legendary race overall. Hall went on to become a stalwart of off-road racing racing in Baja for 47 years straight, stringing 35 consecutive race wins together in the early 1980s and creating the longest unbroken streak of race victories in off-road racing history.

At 78 years of age, Hall’s 160+ major event wins makes him one of the most successful off-road racers of all time. Come meet Rod at his hometown of Reno, NV as he prepares to return to off-road racing one more time in his newly restored original ‘69 Ford Bronco built by Bill Stroppe. Watch Rod return to Baja, California to race the NORRA Mexican 1000, a race which catapulted his career.  Listen to the story of how he fell in love with off-road racing and turned it from a passion to a career.

  • Dave Despain talks to Metal Mulisha’s Brian Deegan

Dave Despain talks to Metal Mulisha’s Brian Deegan

BRIAN DEEGAN – HARDCORE GAME CHANGER.…ONLY ON THE DAVE DESPAIN SHOW Sunday Night, July 26 AT 8:30PM ET.

Corona, CA (July 20, 2015): Brian Deegan will be Dave Despain’s special guest this Sunday night, July 26 at 8:30pm ET. Deegan is a man of many talents – freestyle motocross pioneer, former Supercross winner, off-road truck racer, rally car racer and one of the founders behind Metal Mulisha, a hugely successful sports lifestyle clothing and accessories company. Dave takes the opportunity to probe the psyche behind one of the most accomplished ‘life on the edge’ talents ever to compete successfully in the multiple disciplines of today’s action sports world.

“My definition of hardcore is guys who do stuff others won’t.” Brian Deegan

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Deegan began his extraordinary career first as a professional Supercross rider at the age of 17. He rose to fame in 1997 by winning the 125cc main at the Los Angeles Coliseum and in true rebel fashion, ghost rode his bike across the finish line beginning, what we know of today, as Freestyle Motocross. But it was competing in ESPN’s X Games that he really hit the spotlight, becoming the first ever rider to do a 360 (Mulisha Twist) in competition and is the most decorated Freestyle rider in the sport’s history with 10 total medals (3 golds and 7 bronzes).

But success at this high level rarely comes without near-death experiences, and Deegan is no exception. In 2004 he crashed and broke his femur and both wrists while attempting a 360 over a 100-foot snow double, and in 2005 lost a kidney while under rotating a back-flip while taping a segment for MTV. A tribute to his toughness is that Deegan returned to competition six months after his 2004 crash to finish fourth in the Summer X Games.

In 2009 Deegan switched from two wheels to four, competing in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, winning the ‘Unlimited Lites’ class on his first attempt. In 2011, 2012 and 2014 he captured the elite Pro 2 Class championships, all the while diversifying into Rallycross. In 2011 at the Los Angeles Coliseum X Games, he took home the Rallycross Gold Medal.

In 2015, Deegan is still maintaining an extraordinarily busy racing schedule. In addition to switching classes from Pro 2 to Pro 4 in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and manhandling the Metal Mulisha Monster Truck, he has been hired by Chip Ganassi Racing to compete in Global Rallycross events nationwide, teaming up with motocross legend Jeff Ward.
