    RENO, NV   OCTOBER 22, 2010 – The Silent Auction benefitting the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF) at the 2010 Off-Road Expo was a success. “It was a three way win,” said Bob Bower, Executive Director of the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame.  “The people who donated did so out of the goodness of their hearts and really felt good about doing it.  Secondly, we had some rare or one of a kind items that increased competition among bidders which helped to increase the bidding activity benefitting the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame, and lastly, the winning bidders got to go home with a part of Motosports History at some astounding bargain prices.” (more…)

  • NorCal Rock Racing Entertainment for Spectators and Fun for Competitors

    RANCHO CORDOVA, CA    OCTOBER 20, 2010:  The Nor-Cal Rock Race on Saturday October 16th was entertaining for the spectators, and a lot of fun for the competitors with hundreds of dollars in prizes to win, and a $2,000 cash pro purse.  “We had so much fun, it was the best $200 entry fee I have spent!”   Randy Avery, who raced a red jeep on 35” tires, took the win for the Metal Cloak team and left with $1600 of cash in his pocket.

    Even though the list of drivers was short, the action that they brought to the course was crowd pleasing.  “From the middle of the track you could heard the crowd laughing, cheering, and ohhing,” said John Goodby, Event Producer. “Especially when they starting racing side by side and literally went wheel to wheel.”  NorCal Rock Racing is short course racing with large rock piles, dirt obstacles and lots of turns that make it a perfect match for the Ultra4 cars all the way to Sportsman Class trail rock crawlers that want to prove they can go fast through the rocks too.   • Wheel to Wheel Racing at VORRA Short Course

    RENO,NV    OCTOBER 18, 2010:   With a full weekend of warm California sun shining down on the Prairie City OHV Park, round seven of short course racing had the crowd on their feet cheering.  The track was slightly different at the newly renovated park adding some more mileage to the loop and increasing the overall speeds.

    Sunday’s Car and Truck racing had the pits full of powerful vehicles.  Each race was a battle, but there were clean sweeps by Sam Berri in Class 1, Patrick Timmons in Class 10, Brad Falin in Ultra 4, Gary Herrod in Class 11, Jay Schroeder in Class 9 and Tim Compton in the Pilots.  They all impressively took top honors in all three motos for their respective class wins.  Each moto consisted of six intense laps to make it to the checker flag first.   • Roger Norman Draws First Position and Plans to Ironman 2010 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000

    RENO, NV     OCTOBER 10, 2010  – Roger Norman’s Crystal Bay Casino #8 Trophy Truck will take the very first Green Flag on November 18, 2010 at approximately 11:45am and catapult down the Baja coast in the 2010 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.  Roger Norman will Ironman the entire race with co-driver Lance Clifford by his side.

    The drawing for starting position was on Saturday where the computerized system drew Roger Normans name first as the #1 person to leave the line at the 43rd Baja 1000.  “I am so stoked, I can’t believe it.  It is the coolest thing,” exclaimed Roger Norman.  “No stress, no dust, it couldn’t be more perfect.”  This puts them into an excellent starting position to repeat the Norman Motorsports 2008 Baja 1000 win.   • General Tire announces title sponsorship and spec tire of the 2011 Jeepspeed Challenge

    PAMONA, Calif. – (October 9, 2010) – General Tire is proud to announce that it will be the title sponsor and spec tire of the 2011 General Tire Jeepspeed Challenge. Full details on this exciting sponsorship will be announced at the Off-Road Expo in Pomona, California, Oct. 9th at 2:00 pm in the General Tire booth.

    General Tire will commence its sponsorship, becoming the official tire of the popular endurance desert-racing series, Jan. 2011, and will continue its sponsorship for three years. The Jeepspeed Racing Series is designed to give Jeep enthusiasts the opportunity to take their daily vehicle and race it alongside other die-hard Jeep fans.  Equipped with General tires and a motor from ATK Jeepspeed Engines, the common Jeep driver can have their shot at motorsport victory and race in this exhilarating off-road series

    A number of fitment sizes will be offered by General Tire, including 33/10.50 R15, 33/12.50 R15, 35/12.50 R15 and 285/75 R16.  Travis Roffler, director of marketing, General Tire, also announced that the tire company will sponsor six tires for each of the first 30 teams racing in the 2011 General Tire Jeepspeed Challenge.

    “This is a new and exciting series for us at General Tire,” said Roffler.  “We’re an ideal tire for off-road racing machines like Jeep, so it really makes sense for us to be the official tire of the Jeepspeed Challenge.”

    The Jeepspeed racing season consists of five Challenge/Cup events with two bonus events, and will run from February to December 2011.

  • Lucas Murphy Wins the Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch KOH Qualifier and Prepares for the 2011 King of the Hammers

    NORTH EASTON, MA      SEPTEMBER 30, 2010:   Lucas Murphy qualified for the 2011 King of the Hammers at the Rausch Creek Qualifier and came to the Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch with one goal: To Win. He Did

    Lucas Murphy, in his home built New England trail rig, took first place at the Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch (SMORR) King of the Hammers qualifier located in Seymour, MO on Saturday July 10th.  With miles of newly cut trails to complete, he cut his way through the competition to take the checker flag. “It was a sweet course, slippery climbs and smooth fast wooded trails, just how I like it,” said Murphy.  With adjusted time at work, there was a 2 minute wait to see if any others would cross the line and push him out of the win. “That was an agonizing 2 minutes, but it came and went pretty fast,” stated Murphy who celebrated his first place finish in style!
