  • Joe Bacal and Lexus Secure First Off Road Championship

    PRIMM, Nevada, September 13, 2010 – Just 15 months ago, Joe Bacal and Lexus surprised the off-road racing establishment with a trouble-free run to victory in the team’s very first race at the 2009 Baja 500.  Since that first success, the Cancer Treatment Centers of America-sponsored team has enjoyed an unbroken streak of wins and podium finishes that on Saturday culminated in their first off-road championship with a dominant Stock Full-class win at the SCORE Terrible’s Las Vegas Primm 300.

    “We came into this racing series as off-road racing rookies but we also came prepared,” said Bacal.  “We did our homework and were confident the Lexus would be fast and reliable.  Of course it helps to have a great team and sponsors behind you, too.  Things have worked out pretty well.” (more…)

  • Perfect Weekend at the VORRA Hawthorne 225 Desert Race

    RENO,NV    SEPTEMBER 8, 2010: The VORRA Hawthorne 225 desert race Labor Day Weekend was a great success.  There were over 40 entries with more than half finishing in a perfectly executed desert race.  The weekend also included a parade of off road desert cars through downtown Hawthorne, and the movie premier of Dezert People 8 at the El Capitan Lodge and Casino. The Hawthorne 225 is the fourth desert race in the 2010, eight race VORRA series that includes an additional four short course races.

    Wes Harbor, VORRA Director, took the opportunity at the mandatory drivers meeting to reinforce BLM’s commitment to help promoters be successful while enforcing new safety procedures.  There was not one incident over the course of the whole weekend. (more…)

  • W.E. Rock Eastern US National Rocks to a Close

    PLACERVILLE, CA   AUGUST 31, 2010: Mountain Extreme Park in Dayton, Tennessee hosted the 4th and final 2010 W.E. Rock Eastern US National Event, hosted by Tom’s 4×4 Super Store. Over 20 pro and local teams came to the two night event and battled in front of the record crowd. “There were 3,800 spectators over the 2 day event, making this the largest crowd in W.E. Rock history,” stated Rich Klein, race promoter.  “The Mountain Extreme Park is a perfect place to watch rock crawling, putting the spectators within 10 feet of the action and giving them the ability to see every course from one spot.” (more…)

  • Exit 28 Motorsports Park Hosts Ultra4 Stampede Race

    $10,000 Purse and 10 Qualifying Spots to 2011 King of the Hammers to be Awarded

    RENO, NV   AUGUST 22, 2010 ~ Exit 28 Motorsports Park is excited to host the Stampede race produced by Hammerking Productions and sponsored by ORI of Reno and the Grand Sierra Resort.  The Stampede race is modeled around the extremely popular King of the Hammers race.

    The race will be three 22-mile laps attacking the brutal terrain of the Reno, NV environment in rock racer Ultra4 cars. “This race has the most in common with the hardest off-road race on the planet.   • Rick D. Johnson takes home first in Trick Truck and first overall for Team GT at 2010 BITD Vegas to Reno

    LAS VEGAS, NV – (August 23, 2010) – Team General Tire’s Rick D. Johnson stole the show with an incredible victory at the 2010 Best In The Desert Vegas to Reno Race Aug. 20, landing him not only first in Trick Truck, but first overall.

    The dust did more than soar for Johnson’s opponents at Friday’s heart-pounding BITD race – it consumed them. The Team General Tire Trick Truck driver left his contenders in a cloud of dust as he took an incredible 3-mile lead. He held his position strong, battling through the desert’s rugged terrain and remaining at the head of the pack at mile marker 355. (more…)

  • Roger Norman and Armin Schwartz Place 2nd in 2010 BITD Vegas to Reno

    RENO, NV     AUGUST 22, 2010  –  Roger Norman started 26th and finished 2nd, third overall, in the Crystal Bay Casino #8 Trick Truck class with Armin Schwartz joining the team for the 2010 Best In The Desert Vegas to Reno race.  After a bad qualifying run put them into the 26th spot to start, they overcame about 11 minutes of downtime working on the truck and still climbed up into 2nd out of 48 Class 1400 Trick Trucks registered for Friday August 20, 2010 race.

    “We had a great race and everything went really well overall!  I am glad that Armin was able to join us for his first experience in a trophy truck. It is tough because it is completely different to drive than a Class 1 car, but he did a great job!” said Norman. (more…)
