  • Torchmate Racing helps keep Moab beautiful

    torchmateFollowing the 2005 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab Utah Jeff Knoll and his family read an article in the Moab newspaper about an environmentalists named Sara Melnicoff who was cleaning up the amazing mess left by off roaders who chose to party at Potato Salad hill.  Knoll and family presented a challenge to keep the area clean the following year which the online 4 wheeling community has spun into a yearly cleanup and proactive approach to management of the area during safari.   • California Motorized Recreational Council Hires Livingston Group to help save Johnson Valley OHV area

    April 18, 2012 – Washington, DC –  The California Motorized Recreation Council (CMRC), an umbrella group of the eight largest OHV access groups in California, has agreed to contract terms with the Livingston Group, LLC in Washington, DC to help stave off the expansion of the 29 Palms Marine Base. The move comes on the heels of the expected April 27th, 2012 release of a Final Environmental Impact Study (FEIS) by the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps wishes to annex approximately 160,000 acres of the Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle area, which is the largest open OHV area in the United States and contributes over $70 million dollars into the economy of the surrounding High Desert communities annually.     Simi Valley, CA – March 26, 2012 – Fortunate enough to have one of the most extreme testing grounds in their backyard, GenRight Off-Road felt it was necessary to do their part to protect the Johnson Valley OHV area from the 29 Palms Marine Base Expansion.  To help fund the cause GenRight Off-Road is donating $1500 to Savethehammers.org.     blueribbon coalitionRENO, NV    MARCH 6, 2012:  One of the featured activities at this years Reno Expo at the Reno Sparks Convention Center is a Silent Auction to benefit the BlueRibbon Coalition.  The show will run for three days March 23, 24 and 25, 2012 with the ability to bid on auction items every day.  Bidding will close on Sunday March 25th at 1pm and winners will be announced at 2pm.  “We are excited to add this new feature to our shows this year,” said event producer Al Lockett.  “We always look for a way to support the local and national community and by supporting the BlueRibbon Coalition we feel it truly supports both.” (more…)

  • King of the Hammers Promoter Dave Cole Stuns Racers in an Effort to Save the Hammers

    Traditionally, the Griffin King of the Hammers has been limited to a field of 100 racers; twenty of whom gain entry into the race by competing in a Last Chance Qualifying (LCQ) race that happens in the days prior to the King of the Hammers. More than 70 drivers competed for one of the 20 remaining spots. After the completion of today’s qualifying rounds, both drivers and spectators waited anxiously for news of which teams would move on to the main race and which teams would be packing up their vehicles to start their long journey home. This campaign is in addition to the Master-Pull 4405 Race-A-Thon for land use which is excepting pledges for Master-Pull driver Travis Carpenter in the Master-Pull 4405 during the famed King of the Hammers.
