What caster are the knuckles set at on these axles? Woody's build thread said 2° rear and 5° in front...but on another board, someone's saying Jesse Haines is recommending 5° for the rear.
Apparently (on the 9" anyway) the slinger is optional since in LP configuration, the pinion's so low that the front pinion bearing is always in oil. Now, I've seen some seriously turned up 9" rear ends to get the driveline to mate to the rear output on Jeeps for example....and I'd think on...
I'm pretty sure I'm going 9" (with Toyota conversion flanges) at this point. I'm a Toyota guy so while I'd really love to run them, the 9" just gives me a little extra peace of mind since it's stronger and cost is basically a wash. Granted, I'm giving up a good 1/2" of ground clearance...
Right...I get why they are flipped due to the 2 gear portal. Sorry for not being more clear in my question: What I was asking specifically was why a Toyota FJ80 HP in the rear.....was it to get the gears to drive on the correct "drive" side? Obviously a flipped LP Toyota 3rd would have given a...
Do I see a flipped Toyota HP 3rd in the rear of your car? I'm assuming you designed it that way so that you were on the drive side of the gear in the rear axle?
Who's ram mount is that? I've seen something similar on 3 different JHF Trail cars now....Battleborn's, this one and one on Jesse's FB page. It looks clean and appears to do a good job of protecting the cylinder and shafts. Looks like it might be Jesse's normal "cup" design with plate over the...
And 1.75" tube for those main lower frame rails, correct? So....24.5" ID. ***EDIT: Actually, since your skid is probably at the center of the 1 3/4" tube (or just over it), the ID is probably more like 26.25"***
Right...I read the 48" at the A pillar, 52" at the B. What I meant by width of the lower frame rails was the lower rails at the bottom of the buggy.....see red arrow in your pic below.
I have a TH350 and 700R4. The Hero 3 speeds I have are big, but not really that much bigger than an Atlas...
Fantastic build, Woody! Very interested in a JHF chassis myself but am seeing that while LS engine swaps are possible...it appears fitting a 3 speed Hero would potentially be a no-go (and I have two brand new ones sitting here along with 2 5.3L LSXs that I really want to put in my next build)...
