Project: Detroit Lake Revival Project
Location: Oregon
Description: On June 25, 2025, Tread Lightly! kicked off Overland Expo PNW with a restoration project at Detroit Lake, a popular recreation area in the Willamette National Forest.
Together, 20 volunteers helped revive two popular day use areas and landscaped one major campground ahead of the busy recreation season. Volunteers spent the day cleaning bathrooms, sanding and staining benches, and removing debris and trash from the trails.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
“This project is a testament to the overlanding community’s commitment to protecting the public lands we all enjoy and cherish. Thank you to every volunteer for being boots on the ground and giving back to this beautiful area in the Willamette.”-Grace Schuessler, Tread Lightly! Oregon Program Manager
