Project: Florida Jeep Jam Clean & Krawl – Beach Cleanup
Location: Florida

Description: On May 15, Florida Jeep Jam held a beach cleanup event funded by Florida Off-Road Foundation, a nonprofit supporting public land remediation, cleanup, and supporting off-road search and rescue vehicles for rescue teams in Florida.

A small group of 11 passionate volunteers were excited to participate to make a difference on these beautiful beaches. Together they collected 195 pounds of trash, protecting this beach as a place for annual hatching of loggerhead, green, and leatherback sea turtles.

The beach cleanup was held following the “Day at the Beach”, one of the many events that are part of the weeklong Florida Jeep Jam event. This was the inaugural year for the beach cleanup which will be incorporated in future events.

Thank you to the partners who made this possible:

  • Florida Off-Road Foundation
  • Jeeping Nation
  • SAK-IT

“I want to thank Florida Off-Road Foundation for funding the trash sacks used for the beach cleanup. While the beaches are pretty clean, these beaches help to hatch several types of sea turtles. So, keeping the beach clean doesn’t just help the human aspect of beach enjoyment, it also protects one of the precious species that live in our ocean. This was a great way to Protect the Adventure, Protect the Fun and Protect the Turtles! We’re all looking forward to growing the volunteer effort every year.”-Lowell Eckart, Tread Lightly! Southeast Program Manager, Tread Lightly!

“Thank you to Florida Off-Road Foundation, Tread Lightly!, and Jeeping Nation for helping us execute our first annual beach cleanup in conjunction with Florida Jeep Jam. We are honored to incorporate responsible and ethical motorized recreation education into our event through Tread Lightly! education sessions at Florida Jeep Jam. We believe that understanding the positive, or negative, impact we can all have on our public lands is vitally important in keeping our public lands open and accessible. We also wanted to physically “do our part” by using funds provided through Florida Off-Road Foundation to help kick off our first annual Clean & Krawl Beach cleanup. We hope many more event attendees will help us with this event for 2026”. – Mark Hess, Executive Director Florida Jeep Jam
