Project: Hoyt Peak Opening Day
Location: Utah
Description On June 14, 2025, representatives from Tread Lightly! partnered with the Heber-Kamas Ranger District’s Dispersed Recreation Foreman to open motorized access to the Hoyt Peak area for the 2025 recreation season.
As part of Tread Lightly!’s adopted trail stewardship, the team unlocked seasonal gates, cleared several downed trees from designated motorized routes, and surveyed the area for signage and maintenance needs.
Hoyt Peak, which is officially adopted by Tread Lightly!, is a heavily used recreation destination with access points from the towns of Marion and Samuck. This area is seasonally closed from September through June to protect the critical migration corridors of elk and deer.
Tread Lightly!’s continued stewardship of Hoyt Peak supports responsible recreation, helps maintain trail sustainability, and ensures continued access for OHV users. Tread Lightly! is proud to collaborate with the Heber-Kamas Ranger District to protect this important area and promote ethical use of public lands.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
“This area is so accessible to the local community and heavily used for recreation. The work we do here alongside the Heber-Kamas Ranger District is the highlight of my year.”- Kabe Wolf Utah Program Manager
“It was great to spend the day opening gates, clearing roads, and sharing some laughs with Tread Lightly!. We appreciate the continued support and partnership with Tread Lightly!”- Samantha Burt Dispersed Recreation Foreman
