Project: Sumter National Forest Spring Sweep
State: South Carolina
Description: On April 5, 13 volunteers, eight US Forest Service staff, and a South Carolina Department of Natural Resources employee, joined forces to support the annual Spring Sweep event. The volunteer team consisted of representatives from Trout Unlimited, Tread Lightly!, Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy plus local users of the trail and Chattooga River area. The group cleaned up the highway 76-gauge area, Pool Creek Road, Low Water Campground, Highway 28 fishing access areas, and Sutton’s Hole Road.
In all, about 30 tires and 1,200 lbs of trash were collected and disposed of properly.
