  • Shaffer-Motorsports Finishes 2nd at SCORE Season Openers

    shafferOAKLAND, CA     JANUARY 19, 2012   Shaffer-Motorsports team car #401 finished second on both Saturday and Sunday at the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge.  The team debuted the new black, red and white look for the 2012 season including the addition of title sponsor Transfer Case Express while still being supported by Torchmate CNC Cutting Systems.  “We had fun even though we had to pull a motor out on Saturday after running with no clutch during the whole race,” said Mike Shaffer, driver of record.  “The wheel to wheel action that was also nose to tail made for a very exciting race to drive, and then it was even cooler that we got to watch all the other classes when we weren’t racing.”            (more…)

    Rob Mac Takes the First Jump at LDCWith 190 career victories and 20 series championships, Rob MacCachren has demonstrated that you cannot build a reputation on what you are going to do, but instead what you have already done.  Given MacCachren’s impressive resume of successes and extensive collection of trophies, it would be difficult for anyone to imagine that he has anything left to prove – except maybe to himself.  Adding another trophy and victory to his collection during the second round of SCORE International racing this past weekend, Rob MacCachren once again proved to himself and others he is a force to be reckoned with.   • Joe Bacal Takes New Lexus to Victory in SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge

    Just Misses Sweep of Twin Weekend Races to Kick Off 2012 Campaign

    scoreLAUGHLIN, Nevada, January 16, 2012 – Having endured a challenging 2011 off-road racing season, Joe Bacal brought his oven-fresh, factory-backed Lexus LX 570 to the 18th Annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge looking for a bit of redemption.  After narrowly missing victory on Saturday “by one corner,” Bacal set a marker on Sunday with an emphatic win in the Stock Full class against a feisty 2011 class champion.

    “We did a lot of work on the new LX to address issues we uncovered in our first two seasons,” said Bacal.  “It paid off big in Laughlin–the truck really flies!  A lot of the new speed comes from an improved suspension, courtesy of King Shocks.” (more…)

  • Shaffer-Motorsports Will Race Complete SCORE Series in 2012 Class 4 Car Opens Season in Laughlin

    OAKLAND, CA     JANUARY 11, 2012   Shaffer-Motorsports team car #401 will be competing in the entire SCORE International Racing Series in 2012.  With the addition of title sponsor Transfer Case Express, the Shaffer-Motorsports black, red and white car will be focused on the SCORE Class 4 Championship.  “When we were deciding on our season we agreed that we loved racing in Baja, so opted to focus all our efforts on the SCORE series in hopes of coming out with a championship,” said Mike Shaffer, driver of record and owner of Shaffer’s Offroad.  “This will be our second season with this car and I feel we get more and more confident of its capabilities after each race and all our testing and tuning sessions.” (more…)

    FULLERTON, CA. – (Jan. 12, 2012) – Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored off-road racers, including Trophy Truck veteran Cameron Steele, begin the season at the 18th annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge in Laughlin, Nevada, January 14-15. Steele, along with his Desert Assassin team, will be competing on various Yokohama Geolandar® tires.

    Steele received the first qualifying spot for the two-day SCORE (Southern California Off Road Enthusiasts) event, which, for the first time, will be divided into two races.
