Allows a Full Size HD truck to crawl at tractor speeds. Like a Jeep rock crawler.

The Klune-V “Goliath” is now available to fit a wide variety of vehicles. Originally developed for use in rock crawler Jeeps and such, the line has been extended with large shaft, super strong models to fit GM, Ford, Dodge HD full size, including 23, 31, 32, 24, 29 and 34 spline apps. It can also be used as an adapter between one make of trans and a different T-case, in custom buildups. Drive shaft coupled apps for 2wd or divorced apps available. 2010 08 KluneV 300x284 Klune V Extreme underdrive: New Industrial Strength 4 to one gearsetRated at 2000 ft lbs input torque, the new 4 to one gearset we are using in the Klune-V “David” model Extreme Underdrive is proving itself nicely out there on the rocks.

This gearset, initially beta tested about 3 years ago, expands the durability of this box. Output torque appears to be limited by the size of output shaft used (which is determined by your Tcase). I’ll never say it can’t be broken, I know 4 wheelers can break anything, if you give them a dare. I can say I have not seen a broken gearset yet to date. While the gearset is still not as strong as our 2.7 to one ratio Goliath (Rated at 3200 ft-lbs input torque), with the 4 to one ratio, 2000 ft lbs input torque adds up to 8000 ft lbs output torque. Of course, you could put a locomotive engine in your jeep, and actual torque developed would still be limited by the weight of the vehicle and the size of tires (You cannot get more torque than you can get traction). And of course, when you gear down 4 to one, you are going pretty slow, not much bashing or jumping, so breakage and ”smashage” is reduced considerably overall no matter what engine.

We have put a few Klune-V “David” 4 to one units in Dodge Cummins Diesel full size, large tire apps; we’ll see what happens there!

Klune-V “Extreme Underdrive”

An “Extreme Underd2009 11 Klune V Klune V Extreme Underdriverive” is an underdrive gearbox that bolts in place between the transmission and transfer case. We call it “Extreme,” because the underdrive multiplies your existing gear reduction by 2.7 times (“Goliath” model) or 4 times (“David” model), rather than a usual underdrive/splitter ratio of 1.2 times, or so. With a Klune-V installed. instead of simple high and low range, you get up to four complete transfer ranges:

  1. Both boxes in Hi;
  2. Klune in Hi, Tcase in Lo;
  3. Klune in Lo, Tcase in High;
  4. Both boxes in low.

Gives your vehicle “tractor gears” It is intended for extreme four-wheel-drive applications, rather than towing or gear splitting in a big truck. It works equally well with both manual and automatic transmissions.

Applications available for:

  • Jeeps, all, incl Wrangler, CJ, JK, Rubicon, Cherokee, Commander, J-Truck, etc
  • Ford Early Bronco
  • Ford Full Size (31 spline) Bronco and pickups
  • Chevy 4WD
  • Dodge 4WD, Gas, Cummins, whatever
  • Toyota Land Cruiser with 4sp, or with GM or Ford V8

We have also seen Electric vehicle apps, 2WD apps, Industrial apps.
