Emmitsburg, MD – May 27, 2011 – Bigelow Motorsports owner and driver Doug Bigelow qualified for the 2012 King of the Hammers race at the annual Rausch Creek King of the Hammers Qualifier with a 7th place finish on May 21st. Driving his Yukon Gear and Axle sponsored Ultra 4 racer he battled not only some of the greatest drivers in rock sports, including Shannon Campbell the 2011 King of the Hammers champion, but the nasty East Coast elements that dropped 6 inches of rain on the event the night before. “We knew the race was going to battle of attrition and the finishing rate showed it. Anytime you get less than half of the field finishing an event its tough. This race was 75 miles of tough East Coast rocks and woods that was made even harder with all of the rain and mud. Rausch Creek and HammerKing have put on another great event and we are very excited to be going back to the big King of the Hammers race for the 5th consecutive year!” noted Doug Bigelow.
Bigelow Motorsports has attended every King of the Hammers race for the last 5 years and plans to have two vehicles in the 2012 King of the Hammers event. Doug Bigelow had this to say, “We qualified in the main race with our single seat moonbuggy. That vehicle is as unlimited as us comes. Its going to get a thorough going over before we hit KOH with a couple of changes and help from a few sponsors. What I am really excited about is the additional classes that HammerKing has brought forth to introduce new racers to the sport of Ultra 4 racing. Bigelow Motorsports has committed to building another vehicle for the Modified Class based upon a Jeep TJ with Chevy power. By having two vehicles at what has become one of the premier Offroad events in the country, if not the world, its a win win situation all the way around for all of our sponsors that graciously support us.”
Bigelow Motorsports has been racing professionally since 2003 and is located in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
