    Just Misses Sweep of Twin Weekend Races to Kick Off 2012 Campaign

    scoreLAUGHLIN, Nevada, January 16, 2012 – Having endured a challenging 2011 off-road racing season, Joe Bacal brought his oven-fresh, factory-backed Lexus LX 570 to the 18th Annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge looking for a bit of redemption.  After narrowly missing victory on Saturday “by one corner,” Bacal set a marker on Sunday with an emphatic win in the Stock Full class against a feisty 2011 class champion.

    “We did a lot of work on the new LX to address issues we uncovered in our first two seasons,” said Bacal.  “It paid off big in Laughlin–the truck really flies!  A lot of the new speed comes from an improved suspension, courtesy of King Shocks.” (more…)

    Cameron Steele has two Trophy Trucks entered on specially designed 40-inch Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S® R tires

    FULLERTON, CA. – (Jan. 12, 2012) – Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored off-road racers, including Trophy Truck veteran Cameron Steele, begin the season at the 18th annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge in Laughlin, Nevada, January 14-15. Steele, along with his Desert Assassin team, will be competing on various Yokohama Geolandar® tires.

    Steele received the first qualifying spot for the two-day SCORE (Southern California Off Road Enthusiasts) event, which, for the first time, will be divided into two races.     Rob and Robbie after overall victory at SF250It has been said, “a journey is measured in friends and not in miles.”  For anyone who races, it can be measured in both and this has certainly been the case for MasterCraft Racing’s Robbie Pierce and Rob MacCachren.  What began as a serendipitous venture at SCORE’s 2009 Primm 300 race has evolved into a top-level racing partnership that, like anything worth doing, has solidified the respect and friendship of two teammates and had it’s share of victories, losses, heartbreaks and truly gratifying moments.   • Master-Pull partners with Team 4405 for the 2012 King of the Hammers

    The Master-Pull 4405 Team will continue to “Race for Access”

    Master-Pull, the leader in synthetic ropes and recovery equipment, has partnered with Travis Carpenter’s 4405 Land-Use Team for the 2012 King of the Hammers. The 2012 King of the Hammers will be the third running of the race for Travis Carpenter, who has qualified through the 2011 Ultra4 series.

    The team’s mission of “racing for access” will not only continue, but will be further enhanced by several future projects and campaigns through this new partnership. One example of this is the upcoming “4405 Master-Pull Race-A-Thon” which will once again be held by the team at the King of the Hammers race. In 2012 the 4405 Master-Pull Race-A-Thon will have a focus on saving Johnson Valley and the Hammers trail system. (more…)

  • Darren Skilton Earns a Well Deserved Break at Mid-Point of 2012 Dakar Rally

    The Revolution VI crossing the Andes into Chile - Dakar RallyAfter days of battling fuel deliver issues that would send most competitors packing, Darren Skilton is finally finding his stride at the 2012 Dakar Rally.  The Stage 7 loop starting and ending in Copiapo covered 417 kilometers with the most sand dunes to date.  Competitors have been dropping out at a rapid rate and Dakar veteran Skilton new that he must merely survive Special Stage 7 in order to ensure the chance of a strong finish at the rally.  This is a scenario that is not foreign to the 17-year racing resident, who is taking part in his ninth Dakar Rally.  Last year the Long Beach resident won the Open Production 2 class in a General Tire-shod Ford Raptor.
