  • Labor Day Weekend VORRA Hawthorne 225 Desert Race

    Parade through Downtown, Dezert People 8 Movie Premier

    RENO,NV    AUGUST 31, 2010: The VORRA Hawthorne 225 desert race Labor Day Weekend will include a parade through downtown Hawthorne and the movie premier of Dezert People 8 at the El Capitan Lodge and Casino on Saturday September 4th.  The race will start Sunday morning at 8am.  The Hawthorne 225 is the fourth desert race in the 2010, eight race VORRA series that includes an additional four short course races.

    “The Hawthorne 225 track has some gnarly sections with a couple of rough spots on the north end and some very deep silt beds.  The roller coaster section is free of wash outs this year on the backside and is going to be a blast,” said Wes Harbor, VORRA Director.  The course is a 55-mile loop that drivers must complete 4 times to finish within the allotted time frame.   • Roger Norman First Short Course Race at SuperLite Invitational During Octane Fest

    RENO, NV     JUNE 17, 2010  – Roger Norman competed in his first ever short course race last weekend in a SuperLite truck at the SuperLite Invitational during Octane Fest in Fallon, NV.  “These were so much fun to drive.  I think I am hooked!” said Roger Norman.

    The SuperLite single seat rotary engine spec trucks compete in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series and made a special appearance at the Octane Fest with a first ever Invitational style race.  Roger Norman was asked to compete against nine other drivers including John Harrah, Chuck Dempsey, Jeff Ward, Ricky Johnson, Johnny Greaves, Cameron Steele, Carl Renezeder, Brian Deegan, and Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg.  “It was quite a line up of drivers, and it was funny to think that I was the rookie among them.  Can’t say I have used that term lately,” Norman laughs.   • Octane Fest Super Truckfest Attracts Glimmering, Mud Slinging, Rubber Burning Action

  • 4th Annual Surplus City Spring Mud & Crawl This Weekend

    OROVILLE, CA APRIL 19, 2010: The Urban Assault OHV area will be active this weekend for the 4th Annual Surplus City Spring Mud & Crawl. This event is open to all levels of competitors, from no prior experience to the pros in the unlimited class. “We have great events that are full of different level competitors which makes the racing action even more entertaining. The new guys always just go for it, and the pros make the hardest obstacle look simple,” said race promoter Bob Frank. Rock crawling, mud bogs, and a raffle will be on both Saturday and Sunday with the Teeter Totter competition on Sunday only. (more…)
