Plenty of toyotas out there crawlin the trails. I'd say they are still really popular out here in california.
The D44 is typically thought of as weaker than a toyota minitruck axle. The D44 ring and pinion are larger than a toy 8", but the advantage of the aftermarket birfield joints more...
What are you guys with 3/4" rod ends and 3/4" bolts using for misalignment spacers? I'm assuming its just a spacer without any additional misalignment? I think I've seen Jessie just weld in spacers to the link brackets.
I'm wandering how you all have enough twist in the joints to use 16"...
What's the common go to sizing for link bolts and rod ends these days? I'm used to 9/16 bolts and 1 1/4 rod ends from my previous build and the jeep world, but it seems people are moving up to 3/4 bolts these days. That seems like a lot on these little buggy builds though. I was wondering if...
I have only used the Switchpro's, but I can say its a quality product. I've only used it to control lights and lockers on a vehicle, but I'd like to look into it for use as a complete wiring harness solution. If you look at the cost of all the parts to wire a vehicle, something like a...
Yeah, not really though. If you had a portal axle with the same final drive ratio as a straight axle, the forces would be the same reacting on the housing for a given torque input. Of course its easy to get into deep gearing with the portals.
The biggest difference is usually link...
It all works the same. The axle still rotates around the center of the wheel, portal or not. I think the issue with separation has more to do with too high of a roll center and the fact that its difficult for the chassis to clear the upper links as everything has been moved up 4" already. It...
I wonder if all the cranking then finally getting the injectors working has washed all the oil from the cylinders. I'd try putting some oil on the tops of the pistons then redoing your compression test. Do you know if your getting spark?
Do the 3899s or 10609s physically fit in the box, but simply won't go to 50degress(I get that the joint is not a 50deg joint)? Or do those physically not fit in the new boxes? What makes a box 50deg or not? I thought that was all in the steering arms? Sorry for the thread derail. Chassis is...
You running a spool in the rear?
I'm thinking of running the electric booster on a new build. I was actually thinking of sticking the whole thing under the floor.
