Can anyone point me into the direction of a shop or someone that will build axle housings.....Front and rear set that will be for a rear steer Crawler? Or possibly a good used set-up? I am gathering info and parts to start my first rear steer car project. Thanks for the help!!
do share what your build is i mean do you want rock wells or what
Sorry probably should be a bit more specific. Looking to do a 2 seat tube buggy light weight for more technical crawling. 4 cylinder at most a 6 cylinder. Want to run 42's. Would like to do portals but that's not my budget yet. I am new to the tons and rear steer life so bare with me. I don't mind putting in the work to get and rebuild used or junk yard axles, but what do I need? What year range? Super duty's?? 60's 70's?? Or is it more beneficial to have the housings made for what I'm doing and just me install the internals?

Depends on what your goals are really a solid start is 05+ superduty axles in the rear it’s fairly simple to build a 14 bolt steer axle if your near north Alabama I’d be glad to help get you sorted
super light weight rig you could just use a dana 60 super duty axle front and rear and just do off set rear shaft. its a easy cheap option.

We did a gm front and superduty rear on a Sammy before its works amazing it just did 24hr hell and back. But if you wanted to get fancy yeah retube a super duty to swap it and rock it their great axles

I will look into that way, I'm in California so I'll see what I can get my hands on and let you know if I need some guidance thank you!!

Right on!! Is there any downside to having an offset rear shaft? Strength? parts? Driveline geometry issues?

i saw a buddys rig who has that off set rear end and his chassis has the engine sitting at a angle to make the off set rear much better. crazy yes but quite a few people who do off set rear axles.

Advantages: Diffs drag the same groove, better driveshaft protection, can set up to match front inner axle length, better spacing to mount an axle-mounted winch
Disadvantages: Odd chattering at speed with the t-case and/or rear diff (IE: 20mph+). Seems everyone I know gets some oddities due to their offset rear diffs. I generally run front only even in high which seems to help.
Personally, my next build will have a centered rear diff.
