Alcon is delighted to announce the latest addition to its off-road racing range, the CAR8949AM20 caliper. Specifically designed for off-road racing, this new 6 piston monoblock caliper delivers best in class braking performance coupled with further weight savings over previous iterations of calipers.

Brakes are without question one of the most important pieces of equipment on a vehicle, especially when it comes to off-road racing. Turns, hazards, other race drivers, so many times you have to get on the brake pedal… A great braking system will make your truck faster, allowing you to push a split second longer before braking and therefore increasing your overall speed.

Machined from aerospace-grade aluminum billet, Alcon’s new caliper is incredibly robust and durable, giving the off-road racer a serious advantage to battle through the harshest conditions. The new design takes thicker pads than its predecessor (previously 0.71”, now 0.98”) and has a larger piston area, resulting in exceptional stopping power.

With over 50% of Mint 400’s top 10 finishers running their brakes, Alcon is intent on increasing this number with their new addition, right on time for Baja 1000 and in preparation for the next season.

“As in any form of racing having a high performing brake package is very important. After testing with Alcon last year I experienced a noticeable difference in braking power, consistency, and overall braking control as well as a decrease in physical exertion when applying pressure to the brake pedal. When you are competing at the highest level of off road racing you need the highest performing components and Alcon brakes perform better than any other brake package in existence today.” – BJ Baldwin
