WYOMING - BLM Seeks Public Comment on Travel and Recreation Management Plan
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kemmerer Field Office (KFO) is seeking public comment on a travel and recreation management plan (TRMP) for the Dempsey/Rock Creek (DRC) area.
The 125,000 acre DRC area is located 10 miles northwest of Kemmerer, Wyoming. An estimated 1,100 miles of trails and roads currently intersect it and new ones are regularly being created. A travel and recreation management plan will help manage the impacts of these existing and potential trails and roads maintain existing access rights and protect various resource values.
The KFO strongly encourages the public to submit substantive comments on current use of the DRC area and how it should be used and managed in the future. Comments should address which roads should be opened, closed or consolidated; areas that are suitable for off-highway vehicles, horseback riding, mountain biking or hiking; areas safe or unsafe for target shooting and other travel and recreation topics. These comments will help the BLM to craft a thoughtful and workable TRMP with consideration for multiple uses.
Please mail, deliver, email or fax comments by September 30, 2011 to Wally Mierzejewski, Kemmerer Field Office, 312 Highway 189 North, Kemmerer WY 83101; wmierzej@blm.gov; fax 307-828-4539. KFO business hours are 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Before including your address, phone number, e-mail address, or other personal identifying information in your comment, you should be aware that your entire comment - including your personal identifying information - may be made publicly available at any time. While you can ask us in your comment to withhold your personal identifying information from public review, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so.
A map of the DRC area is available at http://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/info/NEPA/documents/kfo/drctmp.html. For more information, please contact Mierzejewski, KFO Outdoor Recreation Planner, at 307-828-4508 or wmierzej@blm.gov.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact BRC.
Thanks in advance for your support,
Ric Foster
