4WD Toyota Owner Magazine has a new long-term project, a 1973 Toyota FJ55. The goal is to take a heavy, rusted out Land Cruiser FJ55 and build it into a lightweight, hardcore rock crawler. It will be "boat sided" up to the bottom of the door hinges, rear end cut up to the bottom of the floor boards, all glass removed besides the front windshield, and have an interior/exterior roll cage with integrated roof rack. We will be updating this thread with the progress as we go.

Looks like the typical rust spots...footwell is always a pain to deal with...tub understructure still functional?

Most all the rust is being cut out. Floor board will be replaced with aluminum. Body mounts are welded to the frame.

Gota like keeping the spring over :)

Plan is to have 'er ready for the Rubicon this summer, right? I should check dates on that...

Yep that is the plan. Should be weekend after fathers day. Dave should be flying down for it.
