Quick and dirty, the best option for camping and buggy access to the trails is at the Sand Hollow State Park
Sand Hollow State Park | Utah State Parks
Short but sweet...beautiful beaches, full hookups available, and group sites. Holiday/event weekends will be FULL so plan ahead. There is no longer ANY beach/primitive camping allowed, reserved sites only.
And buy a flag. And if you are not DOT licensed, buy the UT OHV permit (available at Maverick).
Flags are cheapest brought from home, they are required to be 8' above the ground. WAIT, what? You are wheeling on the BLM/OHV land and no flag required? RIIIIGHT....think again....the 50 feet of sand required to get from the blacktop to/from the tunnel requires the flat...AND the BLM land is littered with SITLA State land where the flag is required. Spend the $10 and be done with it.
FYI, the campground entrance closes at 9p. Get your dinners done early and get back to your campfires
Long Valley is the primitive camping area that's available....just off Washington Dam Road, S of the bridge. Fair amount of space back there, but it does fill up. Easy access to some of the West Rim trails. Google Maps--> Long Valley Rd
