Project: Public Land Stewards: La Pine Cleanup
Location: Oregon
Description: On Saturday September 13, 2025, roughly 115 volunteers worked for four hours in La Pine, Oregon alongside the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management to help remove trash, human debris, camper vans, vehicles, and assortment of other waste abandoned within the last three years.
Critically important, volunteers removed an estimated 90,000 pounds of trash to help restore this area. The trash removal will help reduce wildfire risk, and the flora and fauna in the area to begin rehabilitation. This is one of many Public Land Stewards projects in a multi-year plan to help reopen the area for recreation.
Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
“We extend our deepest thanks to the dedicated Public Land Stewards and the 115 volunteers who joined forces on September 13th in La Pine. Your incredible efforts are more than just cleanup; they are a vital step toward restoring the health of our forests, reducing wildfire risk, and reviving this public land for wildlife and future recreation. Your work is part of a powerful, ongoing commitment to stewardship, and we are truly grateful for your time, energy, and care for these lands we all share.”-Grace Schuessler, Tread Lightly!
