Vision Wheel dominated the 2016 Baja 1000, as Vision Wheel sponsored racer Rob MacCachren ran away from the field to win this years race by over twenty-seven minutes! This is the third straight win for Rob Mac but his first on the new Vision Manx Forged Race Wheel. The grueling 854.5 mile race course was conquered in 17 hours, 12 minutes, and 58 seconds, as Rob Mac and co-driver Jason Voss kept the pressure on the entire race. Starting in fifth, after qualifying Rob Mac took the physical lead by race-mile 475, and handed the truck off to Jason Voss at race-mile 498. From there, Voss drove through the night to secure the victory.

MacCachren stated, “It is a good feeling. My first overall SCORE Baja 1000 win was in 2007 to Cabo and the feeling I got winning that race was second to none. We had a flawless day with 854.50 miles of the most brutal desert in Baja. We had over 80 people down here helping us with this race. We had 11 chase trucks and four fuel stops and lots of people at home rooting us on. It was a really good day. There’s also so many key elements that goes into winning a Baja 1000 and having dependable products on the race car is definitely one of them. The Vision Manx Forged Race Wheel on BFGoodrich tires take a lot of force, from 5 feet deep whoops, ridged edge wash outs, G-outs and rocky terrain. Baja is the ultimate test on our equipment and Vision Wheel stood up strong to the test.”

Since joining the Vision Wheel family in January, MacCachren has been a steady presence on the leaderboard, not only winning last week’s Baja 1000 but also being this year’s Pro 2 Champion in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Series on Vision Wheels…“Vision Wheel has a longstanding reputation for the production of quality products. We’re very selective about the partners and products we embrace, and we believe Vision to be the perfect complement to our long-standing tire partner, BFGoodrich® Tires. We’re excited about the partnership and look forward to opportunities to help Vision further develop its motorsports program.”

“Look for more podiums and wins from Rob MacCachren on Vision Wheels, as Vision continues to push to be the premier off-road wheel company,” said Vision Wheel’s Rhett Sander. “Vision Wheel is excited to be able to partner with such a legend like Rob Mac. It was because of Rob’s experience and input that we were able to develop and launch a race wheel so quickly and with such great success in the desert as well as short course, in such a short period of time. There’s going to be more noise coming from Vision Wheel and Rob Mac in the near future, stay tuned!”
