335 220x123 Nitto Tires West Wins WIDIA Rausch Creek Qualifier April 15th, 2013: Rausch Creek, PA: Last weekend’s WIDIA Rausch Creek Qualifier proved to be one of the coldest, wettest races in ULTRA4 history. Heavy rains on Friday produced thick fog and low-visibility conditions, prompting race organizer, Dave Cole to move qualifying to Saturday morning just two hours before the main race. 2010 Rausch Creek Champion, Derek West qualified 4th for the main race behind two former Kings of the Hammers, Shannon Campbell and Erik Miller, as well as 2012′s Rausch Creek winner, Bill Baird. By the second lap, West had worked his way past all three competitors to claim the lead and never looked back.

330 Scherer Dominates at  ULTRA 4 MetalCloak Nor Cal Stampede

PRAIRIE CITY SVRA, CA APRIL 9th, 2013: More than 2,000 fans attended the inaugural ULTRA4 MetalCloak Nor Cal Stampede held at the Prairie City State Park near Sacramento, CA last weekend.  Over the course of two days and multiple heats, 48 ULTRA4 cars waged battle on a brutal two mile course that left only 29 vehicles running by the final two races. Drivers pushed their cars to the limit in this first race of the 2013 ULTRA4 Trail Gear Western Regional series in pursuit of both a podium finish and a chance to qualify for the 2014 Griffin King of The Hammers Presented by Nitto Tire.  Ultimately, two former Kings and the son of a King claimed the podium.  2009 King of The Hammers, Jason Scherer took the checkered flag followed closely by 2010 King, Loren Healy, and third place went to the youngest King of the Hammers competitor to date, 17 year old Wayland Campbell, the son of the only two-time King, Shannon Campbell. JOHNSON VALLEY, CA – FEBRUARY 28th, 2013: With just under a week until federal sequestration cuts are set to go into effect, the Secretary of the Navy is curiously seeking Congressional approval to move forward with base expansion at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California[1]. Spanning nearly 600,000 acres[2], the combat center is the largest Marine base in the world with a comparable land mass to Rhode Island. Despite strong public opposition and a potential sequester that will cut tens of billions from the Pentagon budget this year, the Marines are asking Congress to approve an acquisition of 168,151 additional acres[3]; roughly the land equivalent of the country of Singapore.

2012 Ultra4 Series Trophies Awarded in Blackwell

279 Nelson Nabs Ultra4 Nitto Tire National ChampionshipNovember 10th, 2012 – Blackwell, TX: Less than 100 points separated the top 4 Ultra4 drivers going into last weekend’s PSC Brawl in Blackwell race; the series finale in the 2012 Ultra4 Nitto Tire National Championship series. 28 year old Ultra4 driver, Nick Nelson from Las Vegas, NV was the series points leader going into the race. With a win at the 2012 4 Wheel Parts Glen Helen Grand Prix and a top 10 finish at the Ultra4 Cinco de Baja earlier in the season, Nelson was the man to beat in Texas. At the end of the 176 mile race, Nelson would secure a 5th place overall finish and would maintain his lead in the 2012 Ultra4 Nitto Tire National Championship Series points by just 51 points over Detroit, MI Ultra4 driver, Mike Colville. 278 Scherer Breaks Through at PSC Brawl in Blackwell November 10th, 2012 – Blackwell, TX: The Nitto Tire National Championship Series came to a finale last weekend  at the PSC Brawl in Blackwell, Texas. The race was held at Texana Ranch and brought together the top 50 Ultra4 drivers from the 4WD Hardware Eastern Regional Series and the Trail-Gear Western Regional Series in a head to head race that had fans on the edge of their seat. The top four finishers completed the 176 miles within 4 minutes of each other with third place Chris Hoyt and fourth place Mike Colville coming in literally nose to tail across the finish line. Brad Lovell Declared 2012 Ultra4 Pro Series Champion

262 220x129 Brad Lovell Declared 2012 Ultra4 Pro Series ChampionSeptember 26, 2012- Twin Peaks, CA: The 2012 Ultra4 Pro Series Championship began with the 2012 Griffin King of The Hammers and ended with the 2012 Ultra4 American Rocksports Championship last weekend in Tooele, Utah. More than 50 drivers from 20 states competed for a chance to be named the 2012 Ultra4 Pro Series Champion. Ultimately, Ultra4 veteran and short course champion, Brad Lovell, would claim the title.

The 2012 Ultra4 Pro Series Championship consisted of three races. Each race was meant to highlight the unique characteristics and strengths of Ultra4 cars. The three races for this year’s series were: 2012 Griffin King of The Hammers, which emphasized high speed desert racing, endurance and rock crawling, Best in the Desert’s Vegas to Reno; a 500+ mile race through the Nevada desert that tested both cars and drivers endurance, and The American Rocksports Challenge which combined short course racing and rock crawling with multiple cars competing simultaneously in a series of heat races. Title and Trailer for 2012 Griffin King of The Hammers Movie Released

 New King of the Hammers Movie Titled "Rise of the East" TWIN PEAKS, CA – March 21, 2012 – Hammerking Productions released the trailer for the 2012 Griffin King of the Hammers movie titled, “Rise of the East” today. The title for this year’s film is a reference to the 2012 King, Erik Miller. Miller is the first winner of the race to reside east of the Mississippi in Cumberland, MD.

The movie will document the week-long off-road racing event held every February in Johnson Valley, CA. 2012 marked the 6th year for the King of the Hammers race which featured more than 200 teams and 30,000 spectators competing in over 5 days of racing. Promises Delivered

2012 marked a year of significant improvements & growth

  • King of the Hammers is now known and respected as the single toughest one  day off-road race in the world and has become the “no miss” event. A full  vendor show complements five stand alone racing events culminating in  Friday’s Griffin King of the Hammers.
  • Hammertown not only became a city in desert, but a full service event venue.
  • Spectators watched the action live from Hammertown via the largest mobile  HD LED jumbotron available and a strategically prepared short course and  hot pit area.
  • Cutting edge live show integrating wireless cameras to a microwave and  satellite feed was tested and successful, paving the way for expanded  future coverage. Online spectators turned out en masse to watch the action. Viewership  quadrupled from 2011.
  • Race day was a success for vendors. Hammertown was no longer a ghost  town on race day, but a major revenue and exposure opportunity for our  partners.
  • Strategic media plan focused on branding KOH and maximizing media beyond  a handful of endemic media outlets.
  • King of the Hammers continues to be a mark of credibility and durability in  automotive and racing. Read More→
