  • Rock Recovery™ Suspension Winch 3000

Trail-Gear understands when you have a link or even leaf sprung suspension, that during a vertical climb or decent, your suspension will unload making your truck less stable as the center of gravity becomes higher. Our answer to this problem is a small, easy to mount suspension winch that will allow you to stabilize your suspension and effectively control how much suspension droop you have during times when having that control makes all the difference.

Most competition buggies and hard core trail rigs have been using these suspension winches for years to get the job done, so Trail-Gear has decided to offer the Rock Recovery™ Suspension Winch 3000. It is compact, reliable, and easy to install. Everything about the Rock Recovery™ Suspension Winch 3000 is tailored so that installation is a snap. (more…)

Xtreme 4×4 and Royal Purple Team Up for Online Voter’s Choice Build

Feb. 18, 2011 (Porter, TX) – What happens when the creative minds at Royal Purple and Xtreme 4×4 get together? The result is Xtreme 4×4’s Blog Buggy presented by Royal Purple. The project is a first time, unique opportunity for fans of Xtreme 4×4 to be directly involved in a custom build. Xtreme 4×4 picked the chassis, but the rest is up to the online voter. The 17 categories to vote on cover everything from axels to paint and transfer cases to lockers.

“We wanted to find a way to get the viewers involved. Usually you see pre-spec builds on shows, but this time what goes in and on the vehicle is decided exclusively by the vote,” said Royal Purple’s Randy Fisher. “It’s a huge mix and match to choose from, and we can’t wait to see how this Blog Buggy turns out,” he added.

Online voting opened this month for Xtreme 4×4’s Blog Buggy presented by Royal Purple and will continue through the end of March. Viewers will learn the results of their votes as progress on the project will be followed during several episodes of the show airing in early April.

Cast your vote by going to http://xtreme4x4tv.com/blogbuggy/. Catch Xtreme 4×4 host Ian Johnson’s announcement about the Blog Buggy on Powerblock this weekend, Feb. 19 and 20.

  • Another Top 10 Finish For Team Trail-Gear

Trail-Gear arrived on the lakebed almost a week before the big race to make their final tweaks and get the car fully dialed in. A 9th place finish at last year’s King of the Hammers proved that the 4-cylinder, Ecotec powered engine at the heart of the #17 Trail-Gear Godspeed buggy had what it took to be a contender at the toughest off road race in the world.

“I’ll drive fast enough to put that fire out.” Those were the words of Matt Messer, owner of Trail-Gear, regarding concerns of a potential fire if any race fuel were to spill onto the turbo during refueling in the pits. It was obvious that their only options were to win or break trying. Starting at the middle of the pack in 44th position meant having to reel in a large number of other racers to move into contention.
