[singlepic id=223 w=320 h=240 float=left]The Polaris RZR air intake system is notorious for not filtering well….the 2008 models had major issues with particles in the throttle body, and while the 2009-2010 models are improved, it’s nothing more than a band-aid over a machete wound. Don Herman from D&L Machine outside Oklahoma City discovered this issue early on with his 2008 RZR and started hunting down a cure. Not finding exactly what he wanted, his wife Liz finally told him what he needed to hear: make it yourself! (more…)

ATR Dash Bar – RockCrawler RZR
[singlepic id=191 w=320 h=240 float=left]If you play at all, you are going to flop your RZR…if you play hard, you are likely to do a full roll. And if you’ve spent any time researching on the internet, you’ve seen the images of the RZR A-pillar bent to one side or the other following a rollover. The stock RZR rollcage is not the strongest, and while plenty of high quality full replacement aftermarket options exist, there are improvements you can make to your stock cage that will greatly strengthen it and save some money…this is why I chose to install the All Terrain Research Dash Bar w/ V-Brace. RockCrawler RZR install: MotoAlliance Viper EX4000 winch
MotoAlliance has built a nice reputation in the UTV/ATV market for their affordable yet high-quality winches…add on the two year warranty that comes stock with their Elite series, and you’ve got a great value. But why add the winch so soon? It may not appear to be a high priority, but bigger tires and more suspension only means you are stuck further into the boonies…self-recovery can be a requirement.
The Viper Elite EX4000 model was chosen for the synthetic line, remote control, snatch block and aluminum hawse…all included in the package. 4000# should be plenty for a 1000# RZR, and the snatch block is right there should more power be needed. (more…)

All Terrain Research “Chassis Ribs”
Another major recommended addition for a stock or LE model RZR are “Chassis Ribs” from All Terrain Research. Like the previously installed “Chassis Bones,” these help prevent the RZR chassis from bending during jumping/landing by tying the rear suspension mounts together.
(Yes, you will jump your RZR…and yes, it is fun…don’t kid yourself!)
The install is simple and easy, and should take less than :30 minutes. Tools required are a 15mm combination wrench, a 15mm socket and short extension, a floor jack to take the weight off the suspension, a hammer, a tapered drift and a pry bar….and that’s it. Short but sweet. I barely even got dirty. (barely, since walking into my shop usually requires a change of clothes, even if I don’t touch a thing) (more…)

All Terrain Research “Chassis Bones” install on the RockCrawler RZR
First on the project list were the items that would help keep the OEM parts from disintegrating after it’s first trip out. Did some online research and one of the companies that jumped out was All Terrain Research out of Tyler TX. The owner, Jeremy Bratcher, is an offroad enthusiast with a variety of addictions, the latest being UTV’s. The company has come out with some great products that are “must have” items when building a RZR. (more…)
