Id planned on a J35A in there like it was designed for. At the moment, I am still currently building the car. ill sell the chassis and front and rear housings no links or suspension for 8k.
Still tryna plug away. Been something everyday around here lately. Wife's transmission died, moving to a new shop, and its been crappy weather, haven't done much but I was up pretty early this morning doing what I could and not wake everyone else up. Gonna grab my tig here in just a bit and get...
Yeah he does. Artec, barnes, offroad anonymous......a bunch do. The weld on will work no doubt. Bolts in the knuckle though, even as a fairly seasoned welder, I think that might be better. Especially with the amount of force a ram can/will put out. 40"+ tire pinned, 3" ram with a good pump...
I've seen a few posts on pirate that are obviously ancient by now (2008-2010) about machining superduty knuckles to accept a true high steer arm. Six bolts in each side. 3/8 or 5/16 cap screws hold it on. Seems like it could be a better way than just welding them on. Anyone still doing it or am...
Still plugging away. Been working on a few other cars here lately and haven't had the time to mess with mine. See that damn rust!? Over that crap already. Link material will be here this week as well. As soon as my knuckles and C's get here, I'll get the axles cut and have it a roller. Without...
I'm pretty bummed about it. If I can sell it or trade it for a slightly bigger one, that'd be cool. If not, just put it in storage. Been waiting to start on it and got a couple days of work in, only to discover it wasn't gonna happen.
I simply do not fit in it with the wife. Im not building a single seat car. Chassis was bought new and has been in the garage. I have 9" housings, 3.50x3/8 tube, prps and harnesses for it. All the heim joints, fuel cell and mount. All superduty knuckles and C's for both axles. All new unit...
Ditching the 1 ton ton idea. Even though I have a ton of parts for them.... Trail gear and jegs was having what seemed to me a good deal on 9" housing. So both those. Another set if SD knuckles and C's are on their way. Prps, joints and the new Profenders are at the house waiting for me now...
I've been looking for some info on them. Must be looking in the wrong g places because I'm not finding much honestly. I'll always be a chevy guy though.
V6 motors, narrow, good sound, good powerband. What all is really out there that is practical? We have honda. Maybe a 4.3 but its heavy af. What else can be adapted to a gm transmission?
You've heard those old saying "happier than a pig in shit"? No? Well from what I gather it means they are just about as excited as I am to get some parts. All my link tabs, 3 link mount and pan hard mount showed up. Too bad I have to go to New Mexico for work this week. 👎👎
Well, I ended up with exactly what I wanted. After some calls, a chassis came up for sale and I got it bought. After a trip thru Oklahoma, I had to get the rust off but it wasn't too bad!
I haven't actually done the math on all of it to divide it up. 12-14 gallon will be what I shoot for. That will be more than plenty for a v6 honda for a long day of trails.
I ended up finding a kalif chassis. I'm going to head to Utah this coming week.
Doing the straight axles because I have them and it's not another huge expense. I have a ton of parts for them already from buggies past. I'd love to do portals on something one day though. I'm secure enough to...
I've been all over the place with buggy and jeeps. Been back and forth a million times just like everyone else. Anyway, the last car I built for myself was a jhf car. The goatbuilt kit. It was pretty not bad. It got sold before it was finished and I've been debating for a bit to either buy or...
Hey, I'm Wes Helms. Some of you know me, some don't. I got a couple different fab shops in the middle of the country. I'm a big fan of spending all my money to go play in the desert or rocks.
